Program Pictures

I thought that I'd post some pictures of the extremely rough mock-up of the programs that I've done. Keep in mind, this is a rough copy.

So, ya, they are extremely rough, but for the most part, they're done. I like them, and I've spent a good amount of time on them. They still need some tweaking on the front. I like putting our monogram on the front, I just haven't figured out how I like it yet.

Drew's wedding present is in one week. I'm so excited!!!

Oh ya, and 86 days until the wedding. Not that anyone is counting though!

Sometimes Checks Are More Work...

The mail is the best part of my day. Always has been. Even though I'm older now and most of the mail is either bills or credit cards offers, I still love mail time. Today was especially fantastic because I got two, count 'em two, packages. The first one was the paper that I ordered for the programs. I'm not 100% pleased with it, but it'll do. The other package was the lingerie that I ordered from Fredericks for Drew's wedding present. And yes, I did squeal when I saw it! So I quickly scooped up the package and ran to the spare bedroom to check out what I got. After looking at it all, I shoved it all in a dance bag and came to spend some time with Drew and prepare dinner. Our neighbor came down for dinner with us, and now the boys are upstairs at his place playing Halo. I decided to check out what I ordered a little more closely and try it on. Here's where the problems begin....

I start taking out the bra and panty and garter belt set that I ordered and pull out the bra and look at it and think that it looks a little on the small side. I look at the size and what would you know?? Sure is a size too small. Ya, there is no way that my bewbs are gonna fit in it. Then I put the corset on and I could practically fit another person in there with me. Gah, I HATE not fitting into anything ever!!! So I frantically start searching for a customer service number to call and start dialing away. I come to find out that they are doing some inventory something or other and they won't be open again until Thursday. (They're hoping, by the way.) Crap!!!! It's just one more thing that I thought I had accomplished that I have to mess with now.

I put together a mock-up of our programs today. I still have some work to do to them. I discovered that I need to fix the margins and get different ribbon. We meet with Father Butler tomorrow night, so we can get his ok on the program.

And.... I had an interview today! He basically said that it was a good interview, but he didn't know if he wanted to go with somebody who had experience, or somebody like me, who was fresh out of school. Please, please, choose me! Pick me!! I'm the best choice!!! I know that God will bless me with the right job. He's just teaching me patience right now.

Check, check, and check!

A day off of work during the week means that I run errands for the wedding. Today was no different. I figured that it would take me most of the day, but I was happy to find that it only took 3 hours.

The only reason that I got motivated this morning was because I had an appointment to get my eyebrows done at 10. After that I ran to Gordman's to return a sweater. Then to Shoe Carnival to return the shoes that I was going to wear for the wedding. They were the cutest shoes ever to wear for the wedding, but they made my feet hurt so bad. So back they went and I'll just wear flats. Oh well, I'm short anyways. I did end up getting a cute pair of black pointy shoes to wear for my b-pics. Those are two weeks from today!! All my lingerie has been ordered and I think I'm all set with everything.

Then I ran to David's Bridal to buy another color swatch since my mom lost the one that I already bought. I also found out that Sarah's dress is in. Woo hoo!!

Then, it was off to Rockford Rentals. I won a $50 gift certificate from a bridal expo that I went to. Nothing got accomplished there. Apparently some drunk loser drove his car through their display room wall and so they have no display room. Fantastic!! Now I've got to search around online.

Then I went to Kinko's to find out how much it would cost to print programs. To print them in color (which I'd like to do), it will be $.49 per side. I have two double sided pages. That's $1.96 per program. If I do 100, that's $196. Absolutely ridiculous!!! Black and white programs were significantly cheaper at about $40 all together. Bah, now what the heck do I do? Keep shopping around I guess.

And now, for the greatest news of all. I came home and finished the slideshow. I am so happy to have this done. It looks great and the music is pretty good. I'm happy. Now I just have to figure out how to burn the darn thing.

I'm off to work on names and addresses for my showers and bachelorette party.

Scantily Clad

I spend a good portion of my day at work Knotting on theknot.com. They have message boards that brides post and reply to. Well yesterday, one bride posted that Frederick's was having a 70% off sale on their website. I couldn't turn that down, especially with Drew's upcoming wedding present, so I meandered over to the site to take a look at what they had to offer. I picked out a super cute corset and a pair of stockings to go with it.
Total after tax and shipping came to about $50. Not to shabby. So, I grab my debit card and type the numbers in and hit "Send Order" and DECLINED comes back. Declined??? WTF???

I know, for a fact, that I have plenty enough money in my bank account to cover this purchase. They gave me a number to call, which I promptly did. Some fella immediately answers and my first thought is, "Crap, I don't want to order lingerie with a man". Well, whatever, I proceed to tell him what happened. He said that it wasn't a problem and that he could take my order on the phone. He then proceeds to tell me about a "phone-in special" that they have. Apparently, if you order a bra and panty, you get the matching garter belt for free. Free is one word that I hear for sure. So I give him my order that I originally wanted, and then started to wander around the site in search of something else that might pique my interest. Wouldn't you know, I certainly found something.

After all was said and done, my almost $50 order quickly became $120. Oh well, Drew will enjoy his gift.

Drew's pictures have been put into the slideshow!! Now, I just have to insert the music. Which I still haven't decided on. And I have to add a few more pictures of Drew and I together to make the end just a smidge longer. I am crossing my fingers that I can finish it tomorrow. Or Friday. Or at least by the end of the weekend.

I have the day off tomorrow. I have an appointment to get my eyebrows done at 10 and then I'm probably going to spend the rest of the day doing wedding errands.

94 days!!

Waiting, Sometimes Patiently

We keep chugging right along, getting closer and closer to the wedding. I'm still working on the slideshow. Drew's parents are working on pictures for me of him that I can add to it. My biggest hold up now is music. I have no idea what I want to use. I originally was going to do all of my pictures, then all of Drew's. But my mom suggested that I do a picture of me then a picture of Drew and alternate throughout the show. I like that idea a lot better, however that makes music a lot more difficult. Now I have to try to find something more gender neutral. I've got a couple of possibilities. I'm excited to reach the final product. Hopefully by the end of this week.

I ordered the cover paper for our programs yesterday. I believe that it should be getting shipped out today. It's coming from Minnesota so I should have it by early next week. I need to get some ribbon, which shouldn't be too hard. Then I have to decide how to print the insert pages. I'll probably simply go to Kinko's with the file and have them copy it. I need to call around for prices to find my best deal. I still need to make some tweaks to the actual material of the program before I get too excited about printing them. Right now, I have our first and second readings in there, and my mom is quite irritated that I don't have the Gospel. I told her to chill and it doesn't really matter that much. I could always add another page, but then I have to come up with three other pages of material, at which point our programs become small novels. We'll ask our priest and see what he has to say. I also want him to approve the programs before printing. With it being a Catholic ceremony (NOT MASS!!!), I don't want to mess up any of the wording. We meet with Father next Tuesday. At that point, we will have less than 3 months!!!

I actually received a call back from a resume that I submitted a couple weeks ago. At this point, just getting a call is exciting enough for me. He said that he was interested in scheduling an interview with me, but when I called him back, he was away from his calendar and told me that he would call back when he was in the office. Um, ya, no call, and it's almost 3:00 PM. And, I haven't heard from the guy here at the bank that I interviewed with two weeks, and he said I'd hear something last week. Sigh... I'm just destined to stay here.

Double Digits!!

Holy cow!!! We have officially entered double digits. I am so excited and so nervous all at the same time. There is so much that needs to get done. However, it seems that a lot of the stuff that needs to get done rides on something else getting done first. And that something else can't get done until something else gets done first. Oh well, one step at a time, and deep breath, and it will all get done. My biggest concerns right now are:
  • Alterations on my dress
  • Centerpieces
  • Slideshow

Those are just the big ones. I won't bore you with all the small details. And there are oh so many of them.

Want some exciting news? I was at work on Friday and I walked by Sarah, one of my bridemaids, and I excitedly told her that we had reached double digits. She flashes her left hand at me and kind of coyly turns away. Yes, there sure was a sparkly addition to her ring finger. Congratulations to her and her soon-to-be hubby!!

The Good Ol' Days

Tonight, I began scanning pictures for the slideshow that will be shown at the rehearsal dinner. It was a lot of fun for me to look back at pictures that were taken when I was younger and recall all of the fun times that were had. I even found my parents' wedding album. They both looked so happy on their wedding day. And I never knew that my mom's wedding dress was so pretty. I was thinking that it would have been fun to wear her dress but have it altered to me. It had some nasty, sheer, poufy sleeves that were pretty gross. Just so you can have a little sneak peak at some pics that will be shown, here's me when I was little:

That's all you get for now. Maybe I'll let you preview some more after I scan all of them in. I would love to be able to get all of the pictures scanned in by the end of the weekend, including Drew's. Cross your fingers!!
21 days, 3 weeks exactly, until Drew's wedding present!!

HOT HOT HOT!!!

I had the day off today and Drew has been super slow at work, like pushing a broom around slow, so I talked him into taking the day off too. We decided to go to Six Flags today with his parents and Rachel. Um, ya, it was hot, not gonna lie. I LOVE roller coasters!!! I should be one of those rollar coaster enthusiasts and it would be my job to travel the country and try out different coasters and rate them. Is that a job? Can I have it?? I still had a great day, despite the intense heat, and I don't think I got burnt, so that's a big bonus.

I was supposed to hear about that interview yesterday or today. I kept my phone by my side all day. And I was at Six Flags. Yep, didn't hear anything. Great!! What the heck does that mean? Especially since he said that I would hear something either way.

I've begun work on the slideshow that I'm putting together for the rehearsal dinner. And by begun, I mean that I've started to pick out my pictures. I need to get my butt in gear with this project. The quicker I get it done, the quicker I can add one more check to the list. And that project can get completed now and be left alone until the wedding.

I'm off to shower all of the sunscreen and sweat off, then to bed. G'nite all!

Productivity

I love Sundays. It's the one day during the week that Drew and I get to sleep in together. Ok, well, I normally wake up somewhere between 8 and 9, put my contacts in, brush my teeth, and meander out to the living room to play on the computer and watch tv until a more decent hour. Then I go back into the bedroom and jump on the bed to wake Drew up. At this point, with annoyance in his eyes, he asks me what time it is. Normally I try to wait until at least the 10 o'clock hour so he doesn't hate me too much for jumping on the bed. This morning was no different. We decided to go get some breakfast since we didn't really have anything in the house to eat, so we went to Happy Joe's for their Sunday brunch. I wasn't too crazy about it, but Drew had a food-gasm over this breakfast pizza thing that had a whole bunch of nasty stuff on it that I normally wouldn't touch. Onions, mushrooms, green peppers... gross!!!

We came back home and Drew went to go help out a buddy doing a side job (translation: he went to go make some money so we aren't completely broke) and I decided that I was going to spend the afternoon working on programs for the wedding. This was around noon. 4 1/2 hours later, I finally finished the programs. They aren't completely finished, but I am very proud of them. And I managed to do my wifey duties and finished Drew's laundry too. All in all, it was a pretty productive day.

I had an interview last Tuesday and he said that I should hear something Tuesday at the earliest and Wednesday at the latest. Only 2 more days until Tuesday. The wait is killing me!!!

My First Time

Well folks, this is it. My first blog!! I was reading about a woman who has a blog and has blogged throughout her entire engagement and I've been inspired. I'm almost kicking myself for not thinking of it earlier. So I guess that this will be a way to keep everybody up to date on wedding plans and life happenings.

All of the big things are planned for the wedding. Church, reception site, caterer, DJ, florist, invites, limo, wedding bands, tuxes, dresses, and the list could go on but I won't bore you. Now, with 3 1/2 months left, it's the small details that are going to drive me nuts until the day after the wedding. Rogers and Hollands called me at 6:01 PM on Thursday to let me know that my band had finally come in, and I raced over there the minute I got out of work. I am so very happy!!

As of today, I can add one more check to the list. I went shopping after work (good for the to-do list, bad for my checkbook) and I found all three dresses that I think I'm going to need for wedding events, two for bridal showers and one for the rehearsal dinner. And, I'm pretty in love with all three!! Wahoo!!!
Tonight, we're heading to Old Settler's Days with some friends. Should be a good time.
Just so everybody is caught up: 26 days until Drew's wedding present; 105 days until the wedding.
