Coming Full Circle

Today was a day that I dreamed about for a long time!  Drew and I took Annelise to meet the RE who helped to make her possible.  There were so many days where I cried so many tears because I never thought that we would be blessed with a child.  It was amazing to see Dr. H with Annelise.
He was pretty excited to meet her too.  I just kept thinking how rewarding that must be for him.
It truly is such a dream to see everything come full circle.

1 Year of Blogging

Today is one year since I've started this little blog. I honestly can't believe it!!!

At the time of my first post, all of the big things were booked for the wedding and it was only the small details left. I had just picked up our wedding bands. I was excited because I was only 26 days away from doing Drew's wedding present, and we were only 105 days away from the wedding. At that time, the wedding seemed sooooo farrrrrr awayyyyyy!!!! Time felt like it was standing still, yet rushing at me all at the same time. We (or I depending on how you looked at it) had so much to get done still.

I would, honestly, give anything to go back to that time. I absolutely love being married to Drew. But, I miss the planning. I miss the anticipation. I'm sad that there were things that I wanted to do or make, and I never did. Hindsight is always 20/20 right?

I enjoyed blogging through our house hunting journey. I didn't post all the houses that we looked at because I probably could have created a separate blog just for that. We eventually found our first home and moved in, although not very easily.

So, here's to one year of blogging. And here's to many, many more years with many more exciting events as life continues to fly by. Cheers!!!

It's Not Easier

Five years ago today my father died. I honestly have no idea what to say here. I typed that first sentence and then just stared at the screen. When he died, everybody just kept saying that it would get easier. Liars!!! It hasn't gotten easier.

It's not easier because he hasn't gotten to meet Drew. I've told Drew though that I think my dad sent him to me. I think that my dad knew that I needed someone to take care of me that possessed some of the qualities that he did. I think that my dad sent Drew to me to be my angel here on Earth. My dad and Drew would have been inseparable. They would have gone hunting and fishing. They would have fixed things together.

It's not easier because he didn't get to see me graduate. He didn't get to walk me down the aisle. Planning the wedding was so hard because that's the one spot that is reserved for him, and him alone. I think that my brother was honored to be able to fill his shoes.

I miss my dad more than words can possibly express.

Losing my father has probably taught me the greatest lesson that life will ever teach me. Don't take anything or anyone for granted. Choose your last words wisely. You never know when the words that you speak or the actions that you take could be the last ones that someone will know. Tell those that you love what they mean to you. Don't let them forget!

Hello 2009!

We had a great time celebrating the beginning of a new year last night. Drew and I started the evening by going out to dinner with Adam and Nicole. We went to Chili's, so my night was already off to a great start. After dinner, we all came back to our place and spent the rest of the evening here. Nick also came over. We played Rummy Royal first. It's an older game, but it's fun. Cody and Angela showed up at about 11:40, just in time for us to finish the game and get ready for the countdown.

Right after the countdown, Angela turns to me and says, "Goodbye 2008, you sucked. Wasn't 2008 a sucky year?" Um, noooo!!!

My 2008 was pretty amazing. I graduated, planned our wedding, got married. That's a pretty good year, right?

After the countdown, we played Catch Phrase. Everybody hung out here until about 4:15 AM!!!! I could not believe that I was up and ready to go and it was so late.

I have no idea what we're doing today. I'm starving though, so the first step is breakfast. I'm off to wake the sleeping man. And get us some food.

Have a great 2009!
