The Day I Held My Tongue

I got fired yesterday.

My boss called me into her office shortly after 10 AM (Gee, I'm sure glad they kept me around long enough for me to get everything done for them in the morning) yesterday morning. I sat down in her chair and she, very smugly, flipped over a piece of paper and handed it to me. The paper began by stating that they regretfully inform me that my position was being terminated. My boss said that they were letting me go and that it shouldn't come as a surprise. I continue to read through the letter as my boss is running her mouth saying something or another that I didn't really pay attention to. I had heard all I needed to.

I simply got up, while she was mid sentence, and walked out the door. There was a box on my desk (Thanks a lot!) and I packed up my things and left.

I actually surprised myself in the fact that I didn't say anything at all. And trust me, there were A LOT of choice phrases that I really wanted to vocalize. And if you know me, you know that me keeping my mouth shut when I'm being treated completely unfairly is a BIG DEAL!!!

I called my mom. And bawled. And I came home to tell Drew. And bawled. And then you know what I did?

I said, "Screw them!" and I decided that this is the best thing for me. Was I fired unjustly? Yes! Are we probably going to do something about it? Maybe. But this is going to give me the opportunity to do what I want to do.

And you know what? It did surprise me! I'm surprised that a woman can treat another woman so cruely. I'm surprised that I have been open and honest about my condition and about my fertility treatments and this is the way that I was treated. I'm suprised that this woman, who is a mother, can be so compassionless and heartless. I totally understand that this is the business world, but normally, employers will work with their employees. Especially when it's health issues. I could totally understand if I was screwing up, or if it was something from my doing. But this isn't.

I just keep telling myself . . . . KARMA IS A BITCH!

Work Rotations

It's time for some more changes in our home. Changes in the area of jobs. This time it's Drew's turn.

Drew has accepted a new mechanic position with another company at the airport. He has been trying to get a position with this company for something like two years. He would have interviews and then they would end up not hiring anybody.

This new position will give Drew great benefits, great pay, and GREAT experience. He will be working on heavy aircrafts, which is what he wants to start getting into. He also have the opportunity to work a lot of hours. And that's both good and bad. It's good because he'll have a nice paycheck. It's bad because that leaves me alone. A lot!

We're both very happy and excited!

No More Secrets

If you remember here, I told you that I had a lot going on, but I couldn't reveal anything just yet. Well, the time has come. I can spill the beans.

As you probably know, I've worked at a bank since July 2007. I have never really enjoyed my job there. I enjoyed the work, but I, in no way, enjoyed the sales aspect of it. Hated it actually! Guess what? I got a new job. I was offered the position in September and have just been working both jobs since they are both part time.

Drew and I have decided that we want to go to Georgia for Thanksgiving again this year. We went in 2007, but we weren't able to go last year because of the wedding. Once I found out that the new job gave us the day after Thanksgiving off, we decided that we simply couldn't miss it again this year.

I worked my last day at the bank yesterday. It's sad to leave, but good to move on. I was promised to go full time in December at the new job. But have recently found out that it may not happen until January now. But we knew that, right? Companies always make promises and very rarely follow through. Oh, what I wouldn't give to work for a company that actually said what they meant and meant what they said.

Not Defeated For Long

A few weeks ago, I applied for an HR position with a local company. I was ecstatic when I got a call to schedule a phone interview. Ecstatic I tell ya! The phone interview went pretty well. I felt that I answered her questions well, and I had good questions for her. She said that she wanted to move along quickly with the hiring for the position, so I would hear from her the early part of the following week. That week came and left and I didn't hear from her.

Just when I had lost hope, my phone rang and she was asking for an in-person interview. Cue happy dance! ::Happy dance, happy dance:: The interview was the following Monday and I felt that I had a very good interview. I was qualified and I felt like I possessed the qualities that she was looking for. I left with a very, very positive feeling. She said I would hear by the end of the week.

The end of the week came and I didn't hear anything. I thought that it could have to do with the holiday, so I held out hope.

I got an email this morning that she was pursuing a different candidate.

I'm crushed. Heartbroken. Defeated. Numb. I feel like a failure.

I have been searching for a job since I graduated; for over a year. I really felt that this was the one. I keep waiting and waiting. I feel like God is trying to teach me patience. And I'm trying really hard. I know that God will send the right job along when he is ready and when he knows that I'm ready. But, I'm ready. Do you hear me God?? I'm ready!! I'm waiting!!

I still have faith that God will send me the right job when the time is right.

I spent my lunch break crying to Drew. And most of my work day wanting to come home and cry. Do you want to know what I did when I got home? Sent more resumes out! That's right! I got right back up and back on the horse. That's the only way that I'll find my dream job.

Things You Need to Know About the Bank

I work at a Bank and I've been there for a little over a year. I hate my job. Well, maybe not the job so much as some other aspects of it. Anyways, I've decided to compile a list of things you need to know about the bank. So, without further ado:

Things You Need to Know About the Bank
1. It is only necessary to push the "call teller" button once. Just because we don't answer immediately does not mean that we didn't hear you. Believe it or not, but there may be somebody else who needed our help that was there before you. Pushing the button three or four times in a row will not help your case either. In fact you will most definitely piss me off. If the bank was a fast food place, this is the point where your food would get spit into.
2. After I introduce myself, it is not necessary to explain to me that you are making a deposit, withdrawing, making a payment, or cashing a check. Most of the time, the transaction speaks for itself. If I have a question about it, I will ask you. I don't want to screw up your stuff as much as you don't want me to. That would require me to go back, reverse what I just did, and redo it. Generally then requiring me to fill out new slips for you.
3. Please don't make origami shapes from your slips, checks, and money. I am not amused by the number of times that you can fold paper. I am not amused at how small you folded that paper to fit inside that big tube. I am not amused that you managed to fold your transaction to fit perfectly around your ID.
4. Do NOT roll your eyes when I ask for your ID!! You should be grateful that I'm asking and not just giving YOUR money to random people. You also can't have the balance on an account that doesn't have your name on it. I can't tell you how overdrawn they are. Would you like me giving that information to other people who aren't on your account?
5. It's not my fault that you are overdrawn. Learn how to add and subtract. And keeping a check register is a great starting point too. Some guy told me that he only wrote one or two checks a month and he didn't understand how he was overdrawn. When I asked him if he kept a register, he told me no because he only writes one or two checks a month. I wanted to find the closest wall to bang my head into. Strike that - his head!!
6. The window lane is for business customers. Do you really think it's fair to make the people who should be there wait for your slow ass? You also should not come to the window if you aren't ready. I can send a slip through the tube the same way I can send it out the window.
7. Contrary to what you might think, I am a bright girl and a nice girl. Please recognize that.
All of your lives will be much better if you keep these simple tips in mind the next time you decide to take a trip to the bank.

He Works Hard for the Money

Drew picked up a "part time" job working on some big airplanes and, he has been working some crazy hours. He's been working at Job A from 7 AM until 3:30 PM, and then he goes and works at Job B until late, most of the time until 9 or 10 PM. Yesterday, he worked from 6:30 AM until 3 AM. Ya, that's about 20 hours right there!! Today, he worked at Job A from 7 AM to 3 PM, came home and slept until 8:30 PM, ate dinner, and is now back at Job B from 11 PM until 7 AM when he goes back to Job A to work from 7 AM until 3:30 PM. Confused? Tired?? Cuz I sure am!!

I have been so-o lonely lately. I keep telling myself that it's only for a little bit. And that it's really good experience for Drew. And that the paycheck will be very worth it; which will be nice considering our upcoming wedding and honeymoon. Thanks goodness for all the wedding projects. They are keeping me very busy at the moment.

Anybody want to come play with me though?
