Back To Reality

Drew and I recently got back from a vacation on Hutchinson Island, Florida.  Drew's grandma has a cottage down there and was kind enough to let us use it.  I think I only took about 6 pictures while we were there.  I know -- unreal, right?  We spent a lot of time at the beach and the pool and it was just the right kind of vacation that I needed after the miscarriage

I have a few things to catch up on around here over the next few days.  I'll do a vlog tomorrow answering the questions that were asked.  So, last chance to ask me anything to answer.

How's the weather been around here?  Basically, it's hotter than hell.  It's hotter here than it was in Florida.  We're talking temps in the 90s with heat indices in the 110s and greater.  I can't say when exactly the heat started, but it's been going on for quite a few days.  I'm not complaining because I would rather have this over the cold any day.  And I know that winter is going to come way too soon.

Speaking of that. . . .  Can you believe that we're more than halfway through July already?  I think that time is constantly speeding up.

Blizzard 2011

Snopocolypse!

Snowmageddon!

SnOMG!

We just had the blizzard of a lifetime here in the Midwest.  The snow started yesterday at about 3 PM and continued to pummel the area until sometime this morning.  The wind was absolutely insane.  The house made noises and felt like it was going to fall down at any moment.

I took this picture at about 1 AM.  Notice Drew's right arm on the right side.
This is the same drift taken this afternoon.
This is the south side of our house.  That snow drift goes about halfway up the door!  Crazy!

And here's our mailbox.

All of this ice can't possibly be good for my gutters!
I am so over winter.  I usually am way before now, but these snow storms just push it over the edge.  Is it spring yet?

We're Cool Homeowners!

We got our first snowfall recently, so, of course, we had to shovel the driveway for the first time as homeowners.
Aren't we so cool?

And you can even use this picture as a before picture. We're painting the kitchen and dining room! We're hosting the Christmas Eve party for my side of the family and we figured that we needed to at least paint the kitchen and dining room before everybody comes over. As of right now, the kitchen is finished and work has begun on the dining room. Here's a before of the dining room.

Date Night

Drew and I had a date night last night. We haven't been out, just the two of us, in a long time. We got our mediocre security deposit back from our apartment and my one request was that we go out to dinner. I hope we don't ever have to rent again. Those people rob you!!

We went grocery shopping first. What a great way to start a date night, right? After putting all the groceries away, which I absolutely love to do now because of my pantry, we headed out for dinner. We went to Granite City and had a pretty good dinner. Then, we came home and snuggled down and watched Step Brothers. It was really pretty stupid. Some parts were funny, but for the most part, it was lame.

I'm sitting on the couch right now, staring out the window at the stupid snow that just keeps falling from the sky. It sure does make me want to stay in cozy pajamas and watch movies wrapped up in a blanket all day. But, I must be productive. I really want to finish unpacking all of the boxes. Our dining room still has a bunch of crap littering the floor. Plus, I have tomorrow off, so that will be my day tomorrow too.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Single Digits!!!

Yes, you read that title right. Today we hit the single digit mark. It really does seem like just yesterday that we had hit double digits. I swear that my excitement is growing day by day, which is probably to be expected. I'm also pretty excited that I am working my last few days at work. Today is the last Thursday that I'll be working as a single lady.

(Ok, so maybe I'm being silly, but I don't care. I'm giddy!)

I do only have four more days of work, which is super exciting. I could use a vacation from this place more than anything else at this point.

I had an appointment yesterday with the florist to pick up my flowers. And, they weren't done. I'm really kind of upset about this. We had already pushed the appointment back by a week. (I was supposed to go last Wednesday but she said she needed another week.) I get there and she starts to tell me that one of her bride's called and her dad passed away so she had to stop what she was doing and make some flowers for her, plus she had ten weddings she was doing this weekend. I was sort of like, "Whatever, chick!" So, I'm going back next Wednesday and they better be done.

I was pleased with what I had seen so far. She did have a bunch of greenery in the bridesmaids bouquet that she had started on that I was not crazy about. I pretty much told her to take all that crap out. I don't think that I've talked too much about the flowers on here, but you can find some of my ideas here. I'm really looking forward to next Wednesday when I can (hopefully) see the finished product. There will probably be some words said if she doesn't have all of the flowers finished then.

Today, Accuweather says Some Sun and high of 54 degrees. The Weather Channel says Partly Cloudy and 54 degrees. Well, at least they agree.

My New Favorite Website!

Can I just take a moment to note that we are one day away from being able to track the weather in the 15 day forecast?!?

Ya, I'm that bride!!!

I'm not even having an outdoor wedding, but I still want it to be nice out. Sunny and relatively warm for this time of year. I just want the opportunity to take some beautiful pictures outside. And I know that I'm going to be wearing a huge dress and all, but I still don't want my top half to freeze. I don't want my poor girls to freeze either.

If you want to track along with me, you can through Accuweather.
